About the Monastery

SGMwithCross
Saint Gregory of Sinai Monastery is an Eastern Orthodox men’s community established in 1983.

In 2000 the Monastery entered the communion of the Holy Orthodox Church in North America, being received by Metropolitan Ephraim of Boston. In December, 2001, the Bishops of the Church in America established a West Coast See, with its Cathedral in Seattle, electing Bishop Moses of Roslindale as the new Diocese's first ruling Bishop. In 2007 the West Coast See moved its Cathedral to Portland.

The community offers a daily cycle of services in its chapel, dedicated since 1988 to Saint Silouan the Athonite.

The chief support of the Monastery is icon painting, and the sale of greeting cards (Christmas, Pascha and blank note cards), featuring icons made in the Monastery workshop, and distributed by St. Vladimir's Seminary Press (800-204-2665).
